The state government is planning to set up a second phase of Manikanchan ~ a special economic zone for gems and jewellery ~ soon, the state commerce and industries minister links of london earrings, Mr Nirupam Sen said.The minister was speaking at the occasion of the 10th anniversary celebrations of the eastern regional office of the Gems and Jewellery Export Promotion Council (GJEPC) yesterday links of london rings.The second phase of Manikanchan will have better infrastructure facilities as compared to the first one and will be tailor-made as per requirements of the manufacturers. Discussions will be carried out with the various gems and jewellery manufacturers before the state government starts work on the project links of london jewellery. Manikanchan, developed by the West Bengal Industrial Development Corporation (WBIDC), was the country’s first greenfield special economic zone (SEZ) exclusively for gems and jewellery. The zone came up on five acres of land in Salt Lake and was made fully operational in 2003. Meanwhile, Mr Sen urged the manufacturers to look into the issues relating to the working conditions of the gold artisans Charm Bracelet.
